Grand Chanukah Party Held for Families of Terror Victims
On the sixth night of Chanukah, a wonderful party took place in Kfar Chabad for victims of terror and their families. Those who came were widows and orphans, bereaved parents and those wounded in terrorist attacks throughout Israel. The CTVP program was lively and entertaining. Families walked away strengthened, filled with hope for the future, and full of happiness and light.
The event opened with wonderful gifts for the children and Chanukah Menorahs for the adults. This was followed by a delicious dinner, live music, and joyous Chanukah songs. The candle-lighting ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Menachem Kutner and his son Jonathan. Joining them were IDF soldier Kfir Levy, who was critically injured when hit by a mortar shell in Gaza ten years ago, and Mr. Samuel Shitoubi the father of Sharon Shitoubi A’H who was killed in Gaza.
After lighting the candles, everyone joined the circle for a lively Chasidic dance led by Rabbi Yossi Swerdlov and with the sensational singing voice of R. Age Akibiib. Even those severely injured did not forgo this opportunity and either rose to their feet slowly or cla
pped along, determined to participate in this dance of joy.
A spectacular magic show by Rabbi Victor Atiya delighted children and adults alike. Victor included his own very moving and personal story of how he and his family were able to cope after the tragic death of his own daughter. The families were so grateful for this respite of joy in what are often dark days for them. They thanked CTVP over and over again for organizing the event and for their constant encouragement.
