Rabbi Sholom Ber Gorelick who lives on the first floor of the building in Kiryat Malachi, lit the Chanukah candles on the exact spot where a rocket hit and took the lives of three precious souls.

With this act Rabbi Gorelik reaffirmed the message of “Light will Win" — the Chanukah lights will shine brightly and bring comfort and hope to the bereaved families. It will give them strength to go forward with the hope of better days coming.

Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director of CTVP, was there for this emotional moment and said that similar ceremonies will take place in every place that the rockets hit.

CTVP staff and volunteers will be fanning out all across Israel again, this time to bring the message of “Light will Win” over darkness and violence, to families throughout the country.

It is an especially timely message.

This Chanukah, the message of hope and light is especially meaningful after the rocket attacks the country has suffered. It is helping all of us to see not only the miracles of the past, but the miracles around us every day.

We are going to the homes of terror victims and their families – those who have just suffered in this latest conflict, and the thousands of other victims of terror that CTVP already cares for.

We are bringing them dreidels, chocolate coins, menorahs and sufganiyot, the jelly doughnuts everyone in Israel loves so much. And we are staying to light the candles with them.

We have put up giant menorahs all around the country and are having public candle-lighting ceremonies for people everywhere. We are having Chanukah parties for the children.

All of this brings hope and comfort to all those in Israel whose lives have been shattered by terror and war, whether a few weeks ago or a few years ago.
