Ziv, a courageous officer in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), whose family lives in Be'er Sheva, close to the local Chabad House, lost a hand in an explosion in the Gaza Strip.

As doctors struggled to save his other hand. CTVP, with the local Shaliach, Rabbi Moshe Ariel Roth, was at his bedside in the hospital to bring hope, comfort and help to him and his family.

Ziv’s extended family and many friends waited near the intensive care unit at Soroka University Medical Center, keeping a vigil for this brave young man. Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director of CTVP, organized them to pray for Ziv’s recovery. They said psalms on his behalf.

They were rewarded with the news that Ziv had woken up and was able to speak.  Although his condition continued to be extremely serious, he was stable, and his life was no longer in danger.

Ziv’s family was already involved with Chabad in Beer Sheva before he was wounded. They participated often in classes and events organized by Shaliach, Rabbi Moshe Ariel Roth.

So the moment they heard that Ziv had been wounded, they called Rabbi Roth for his help and support. They knew they could count on him for strength and sustenance and they knew CTVP would also be there to help them every step of the way.

CTVP will be with Ziv and his family throughout the long and difficult rehabilitation process that lies ahead, a process made all the more complicated because Ziv’s mother is suffering from a serious and debilitating illness.

We will be there for this family for as long as needed, with financial, emotional, spiritual and practical help.  Everyone is asked to continue to pray for the recovery of this dedicated and brave officer in the IDF, Ziv Rafael ben Margalit.  And also for his mother, Margalit bat Jamila.
