The Wheels are Rolling!
Wheelchair Distribution Enormous Success!

Tyler Hochman of California, and his family, are very special people.

Telhasomer4.jpgWhen it came time for Tyler’s Bar Mitzvah celebration, they chose to celebrate it with an additional component that added enormously to the mitzvah of Tyler’s coming of age.

With the help of Chabad's Rabbi Chaim N. Cunin of Los Angeles, they made arrangements for close to 300 wheelchairs to be delivered to Israel for those in need – and, they are personally accompanying staff and volunteers from Chabad Terror Victims Project to make the deliveries all across the country. The manufacture and shipping of the wheelchairs was organized by American Wheelchair Mission (http://www.amwheelchair.org/) who are responsible for delivering wheelchairs all over the worlld.

The Hochmans are visiting hospitals, old age homes, rehabilitation centers, and private homes from one end of Israel to another, wherever the wheelchairs are most needed. IMG_5218.JPG

This distribution is in process right now and so far the family has visited Tel Hashomer Hospital in Tel Aviv, the Beit Levinstine Rehabilitation Center in Raanana, the Mair Hospital in Kfar Saba, a senior center in Carmiel, the Ziv Hospital in Tzfat, and Chasdei Shabtai, a free lending organization in Miron.

Every stop along the way they have been received with open arms and deepest gratitude. Emotions have run high on both sides as people with life-altering conditions receive these wheelchairs that can change their lives by restoring mobility and independence, the keys to a fulfilling life, a life of dignity and meaning.

Telhasomer2.jpgThe next stop on the Hochman family’s distribution agenda is going to be Sderot and we will send an update and interview with them after that. This project has brought new meaning to the lives of so many and the gratitude of everyone is profound.
