Six months ago, when Odel Biton was just two years old, terrorists hurled rocks from above at her mother’s car as she was driving toward home, causing the car to veer off the road.

Odel’s mother and sisters were moderately injured, but little Odel sustained a very serious head injury and fought for her life for a long time.  Now three, Odel is in a rehabilitation center struggling to regain all that she lost due to this violent attack.

Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director of Chabad Terror Victims Project (CTVP) has been with the family from the day the attack occurred. He was there to comfort them when the doctors told her parents the extent of Odel’s injuries and what the consequences might be.

Rafi Biton, Odel’s father, and her mother, have great faith in G‑d and are confident that their daughter will recover. Odel is named after the daughter of the Baal Shem Tov and her family believes that he is the protector of their precious daughter.

They have prayed for a miracle from heaven for Odel. And against all odds, there has recently been some improvement in Odel’s condition.

Her father went with Rabbi Kutner to pray at the grave of the Baal Shem Tov on behalf of Odel. It was a powerful moment as he stood there beseeching help for his daughter.

After Rafi and Rabbi Kutner returned from their journey, Rafi said: "We pray that the New Year will bring with it new beginnings, and that we will see ongoing improvements in our precious Odel’s condition.”

Rabbi Kutner said: "We were able to find the grave of the Baal Shem Tov’s daughter as well and we prayed at her grave too for a speedy and full recovery for Odel.”

The Biton family continues to keep a constant vigil at their daughter’s side with the support and help of Chabad Terror Victims Project which does all it can to help this family that has suffered so much.
