CTVP Celebrates Marriage of Avi Orpaz Son of Mumbai Terror Attack Victim
Less than two years ago Mrs. Yocheved Orpaz A'H was killed in the terrible terror attack on the Chabad House of Mumbai, India which also claimed the lives of Chabad Shluchim, Rabbi Gabi and Rivki Holtzberg A"H.
Ever since then, Chabad Terror Victims Project (CTVP) has maintained ongoing contact with the Orpaz family who live in Israel. We have been there with them round the clock, helping them through the difficult moments of sorrow. And we have also celebrated moments of joy with them as well.
It was only natural therefore that when Avi Orpaz was celebrating the joyous occasion of his marriage, CTVP was invited to play an integral part. It was indeed a very special celebration that combined great moments of joy with so many memories and sorrow for the mother who was not there to see her son under the chupah.
One of the more touching moments occurred as Avi walked down the aisle to the chupah. His face shone with the joy of the moment and his great Jewish pride. On his head was a very special kippah. It was found in his mother's hand bag at the time of the terror attack, and on it was written “Chabad of Mumbai".
The kippah was representative of his mother’s love shining down on him and his bride on their special day.
