In the wake of Israel’s worst natural disaster in modern history, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization is providing badly-needed financial aid to the 43 families whose loved ones perished in the flames.
Less than two years ago Mrs. Yocheved Orpaz A'H was killed in the terrible terror attack on the Chabad House of Mumbai, India which also claimed the lives of Chabad Shluchim, Rabbi Gabi and Rivki Holtzberg A"H. Ever since then, CTVP has maintained ongoing contact with the Orpaz family who live in Israel. We have been there with them round the clock, helping them through the difficult moments of sorrow. And we have also celebrated moments of joy with them as well.
Just a few weeks ago Neta and Sharon Shoker were injured in a terror shooting near the settlement of Tene Omarim in the south of Mt. Hebron. Terrorists opened fire from a passing vehicle at the car in which the couple were riding. The injured couple continued till the entrance to the Hospital where Neta was hurried into the operating room for an urgent caesarean operation – in which a short time later she gave birth to a baby boy.
Traffic came to a halt and people stood in silence honoring Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror Monday morning as sirens wailed across Israel. Yom Hazikaron, or Israel’s Day of Remembrance is dedicated to remembering the sacrifice of 22,682 soldiers and some 2000 victims of terror. Among them, Eti Mamistavlov recalled the moment she heard her husband Yossi was killed by a suicide bomber leaving her four children without a father.

The Chabad Terror Victims project has been closely involved with the families of those murdered since the recent attacks in Mumbai.
As part of its seasonal visits to army bases and camps around Israel‚ staff from the Lubavitch Youth Organization‚ including Rabbi Aharon Pruss‚ coordinator of activities at IDF bases‚ and Rabbi Menachem Kutner from the Terror Victims Project‚ have been to the bases at the northern border to boost the morale of the soldiers.
Terror-victim children get a few hours of fun each week with Shoshanat Yerushalayim Seminary students who volunteer for Tzeirei Chabad's Big Sisters Program. This week‚ a joint commencement party was held‚ marking the Bat Mitzvah of two American girls who visited Israel specially to celebrate with‚ and cheer up‚ child terror victims in Israel—giving the children a heartfelt surprise.
