Summer:
Summer is supposed to mean relaxation and vacations as school ends and life slows down. But for families who have experienced terror and war, the painful losses do not go away during the summer. It is at this time especially that children, without the structure of school, suffer even more the fear and anxiety that terror, rocket attacks, bombings and war cause.
CTVP has organized a broad array of day camps, overnight camps, and family getaways to enable these families to have a much-deserved respite from the ongoing challenges they face daily.
Financial assistance is provided so that the children can attend these camp programs which are specially structured with the emotional needs of these children in mind.
Day Camp
The Gan Israel Day Camp Network, for children ages 4 through 13, has won awards in Israel for the excellence of its programming. In addition to the normal camp activities, the Gan Israel network has special programming to aid in the emotional trauma that the children have experienced.
Overnight Camp
For those children able to experience short separations from their families, there are overnight camp programs. Psychologist have advised that it is emotionally helpful to the children to spend time away from the area where the attack took place and this program enables them to get away in a safe, structured and specially organized program.
Family Excursions
For those families who are not ready for separation after the trauma of the attack, there are summer family excursions organized by CTVP throughout Israel and even abroad. The families have the opportunity to be totally away from all reminders of the attack and to spend time together in a happy atmosphere.
Support Groups and Day-Time Get Togethers
CTVP also organizes support groups that are year-round and day-time get togethers during the summer and year round as well throughout Israel. By bringing these families together, they come to understand they are not alone and together they develop the strength and courage they need to persevere and move on with their lives.
