The heart is not big enough for both of them!
A young woman named Linor Kinan lived in Mazkeret Batya, a town about 16 miles from Tel Aviv. The terrorists killed her this past Shabbat. She was just 23 years old.
When the Chabad shluchim, Rabbis Glitzenstein and Greenberg, visited the Shiva to give solace and comfort to the family, they found out that that day was the Bar Mitzvah of Linor’s little brother, Aviv. He turned 13 in the middle of mourning for his sister.
After a quick conference with the family, the Chabad shluchim helped Aviv celebrate his Bar Mitzvah. In the presence of all their family, friends, and acquaintances – who were gathered there together to comfort the family – Aviv put on tefillin for the first time.
And with his father and grandfather standing behind him wearing the torn shirts of mourning, Aviv loudly proclaimed the verse "Shema Yisroel"!
You can see a beaming Aviv putting on his tefillin for the first time, with his mother proudly saying, “Look at Aviv! His first time putting on Tefilin!” at this link.
Imagine the feelings of everyone there. Tears of sadness and joy mingled together. Mourning and celebration. A Shiva and a Bar Mitzvah. Sorrow and smiles.
May they only know tears of Simcha (joy) from here on!
Your support of Chabad’s Terror Victims Project helps soldiers on the front lines, injured victims in hospitals, and families of victims of terror with food, comfort, and counsel. You’re also helping children who have been through way too much… be kids again through gifts of toys, projects, and games.
Thank you for being there for Israel! Am Yisroel Chai!
