Eldad is from Israel and Shimon hails from Toronto Canada. Seemingly these two young men live worlds apart yet they celebrated together this past Monday, with their families and loved ones in what is Known as “The Twin Bar Mitzvah Program” organized by Tzerei Chabad of Israel.

A few months ago, Shimon’s parent resolved to help another Jewish boy like their son, enjoy his bar mitzva. They turned to Tzerei Chabad in Israel who arranged for Shimon and Eldad to celebrate their Bar Mitzvas together at the Kotel. Eldad, who’s family suffered from a terrorist attack in Israel was thrilled to celebrate with his family and make a new friend.  “The twin bar mitzva program not only helps victims of terror and those less fortunate celebrate this wonderful day, but sends a strong message to the Bar Mitzvah boy about starting their adult life with acts of kindness”, said Rabbi Yossi Swerdlov of Tzerei Chabad in Israel.

‘’The happiness of both families dancing together with their children, as the Sefer Torah is being brought out from the ark, and  watching these two new friends, each donning their new Tfillin,  sends a chill down my spine’’ , said Rabbi Menachem Kutner of the Chabad Terror Victims Project.

Following the ceremony at the Kotel the two families joined for a scrumptious ‘Seudat Mitzva dinner arranged by the Chabad Terror Victims Project. Rabbi Menachmem Kutner spoke words of Torah and of the mitzvah of ‘loving one’s fellow as you love yourself’
