CTVP Big Sister Program begins its Seventh Year
Another successful year of friendship and mentoring has begun for the families of terror victims in Israel. This special project of CTVP pairs young women studying at the various seminaries with hundreds of families throughout Israel. The volunteers receive special instructions and are guided by Chabad Terror Victims staff.
Every week throughout the year, scores of Seminary girls in
Israel, who are CTVP volunteers, visit the homes of widows with small children, bringing the children wonderful activities and the mothers much-deserved respite. The girls help the children with homework. They play games with them, and do arts and crafts projects with an emphasis on therapy through art. And they take the children to the park. In this way the mothers have some special time for themselves in which they can renew their strength to face the difficulties and loneliness of raising their children alone without their life’s partner.
This project being launched successfully for the seventh year, and receives much praise from the families as well as from the volunteers themselves. This year of vounteer work gives them the feeling that they receiving much more than what they give.
