For the Jews of the Diaspora who come on a visit to Israel through Chabad Houses round the world, it's not just tourism on their mind.The Shluchim give their Congregation an opportunity to touch the holiness of the Land and love of the Land of Israel, and especially, a chance to express their empathy and unity with Israel by expressing their love to those who were terrorized by terror attacks or with the denizens of Sderot. In these days, the Chabad community of the Upper East Side, Manhattan visited with the Shluchim Rabbi & Rebitzin Ben-Zion Krasiansky in the town of Sderot. They were received by the head of the Chabad House in Sderot, Rabbi Zeev Pizem who toured with them in the rocket bombed city, and told of the unbelievable strength of the denizens coping constantly with the awful security situation.
Rabbi Menachem Kutner, director of the Chabad Terror Victims Project, and Rabbi Aharon Prus of Tzeirei Chabad in Israel explained to them the special needs of those hit by Kassam rockets and the aid that CTVP in Israel extends to them. Towards the end of the visit, the visitors participated in an activity for the children of Sderot in the local Chabad House. They expressed their wish to continue showing their love to the injured by the Kassam attacks on the city.
